SDRC and Oracle Form Strategic Partnership

Partnership focuses on integration of SDRC products with Oracle Product Development Exchange

CINCINNATI-October 23, 2000-SDRC (Nasdaq: SDRC), a global supplier of e-business collaboration solutions for the product lifecycle, today announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Oracle Corporation. Through this partnership, the two companies have agreed to integrate SDRC collaborative product development solutions with Oracle Product Development Exchange.

"SDRC's leading presence in automotive, aerospace, and high technology market sectors were primary factors in our decision to name them as one of our key strategic partners," said Mark Oakey, vice president, Oracle B2B Exchanges. "SDRC's proven expertise in successfully deploying collaborative product development solutions provides us confidence in their ability to support our Oracle Product Development Exchange requirements."

Oracle Product Development Exchange allows companies from all industries, such as manufacturing, construction, retail or graphic design, to bring team members together to collaboratively develop, design and review projects or products. Through its market-leading Metaphase product and its viewing technology, SDRC provides production-proven solutions that will enable the import and export of engineering information to and from the Oracle Product Development Exchange. As a result, complete collaborative product design and development intelligence will be available to global manufacturers, and their respective supply chains and business partners, via the Internet through the Oracle Product Development Exchange.

Additionally, through this partnership, the collaborative exchange is further extended to include interoperability for adopting standard SDRC Accelis connectors to industry leading applications, such as ERP and customer systems. Customers now have the ability to meet online with their extended enterprise to participate in robust collaborative and interoperable environments to greatly accelerate the product development process. "Oracle is pleased to have SDRC as one of its industry leading partners, further broadening the capabilities of Oracle Product Development Exchange," said Kurt Robson, vice president of design and architecture, Oracle Corp. "The ability to exchange product design information with leading product development solutions is critical for successful B2B collaboration."

"The Oracle Product Development Exchange integration with SDRC solutions provides the manufacturing industry with the most robust collaborative product development offering," said Ron Wohl, executive vice president, Applications Development, Oracle Corp. "Strategic partnerships with companies such as SDRC help us move beyond transactional marketplaces and offer true collaborative environments for global manufacturers and their trading partners to manage the entire product lifecycle from concept to production to retirement through a single, Oracle-based exchange architecture."

"With over 375,000 seats implemented worldwide, SDRC is the industry leader in product knowledge management (PKM) deployment," said Bill Weyand, chairman and CEO, SDRC. "Oracle's presence in B2B allows us to further extend the range of our products into the e-commerce space. Through this partnership, SDRC intends to more aggressively enter the quickly-expanding Internet exchange market."

The strategic partnership between Oracle and SDRC, which spans product integration as well as joint sales and marketing, will enable the two companies to provide the most comprehensive solution for enterprises and private and public exchanges within the manufacturing industry.
