SDRC Announces Metaphase® Integration to Rational ClearCase®

- Manages software design data, mechanical and electrical design data within a single bill of material -

CINCINNATI-November 8, 2000-SDRC (Nasdaq: SDRC), a global supplier of e-business collaboration solutions for the product lifecycle, today announced the integration between SDRC's Metaphase® product knowledge management (PKM) solution and Rational Software's Rational ClearCase® software configuration management (CSM) solution.

RationalClearCase® manages the development of software - a very critical element of most products in the marketplace today. SDRC, with its Enterprise Solutions Partner (e!sp®), International TechneGroup Incorporated (ITI), and through the support of Rational's Unified Partner Program, has created a solution that allows businesses to capture and manage a single product bill of material (BOM) that incorporates not only mechanical and electrical design data, but software design data as well.

Until now, software products (programmable read-only memory burn images, executables, libraries, etc.) have been managed outside of PDM systems, making it extremely difficult to manage from the total product configuration and incident-tracking standpoint. Metaphase's ClearCase integration allows businesses to manage configuration and change control for an entire product including all of its software design elements.

The integration was developed using the direct input of industry-leading companies like Ericsson, General Dynamics Information Systems (GD-IS), Honeywell DAS, Motorola, N.E.T., and United Defense (UDLP). The product shipped to customers in October.
