Fluke Corporation Transitions from
Sherpa® to SDRC's Metaphase®
- Transition comprises 650 seats; order also includes Accelis™ -
CINCINNATI-November 14, 2000-SDRC (Nasdaq: SDRC), a global supplier of e-business
collaboration solutions for the product lifecycle, today announced that Fluke Corporation,
headquartered in Everett, Washington, has selected Metaphase®, SDRC's product knowledge
management (PKM) solution, and Accelis™, SDRC's e-Business Integration (e-BI) solution.
Fluke will transition 650 Sherpa seats to Metaphase.
Fluke Corporation manufactures, sells and services electronic test and measurement tools.
Fluke is implementing Metaphase as its product knowledge management solution to manage
product structure (bills of material, engineering documents, and configuration) and
engineering change processes in an infrastructure that spans the firewall. Accelis will be
deployed as the database integration solution between Metaphase and Fluke Corporation's
Oracle applications.
"Our customers buy Fluke test tools because of our reputation for rugged reliability
and accuracy," said Cid Busby, PDM project manager, Fluke Corporation. "To
continue meeting the expectations of our customers in today's fast-paced business
environment, we must effectively leverage our intellectual capital, take full advantage of
the Internet and streamline our product development processes. Metaphase's proven
capabilities and the ease in which it can be connected to our Oracle Manufacturing
solution through Accelis, were key elements in our selection of SDRC."
"Competitive pressures in industry today are enormous," said Bill Weyand,
chairman and CEO, SDRC. "Fluke, like others in the market, face dynamic competitive
challenges. Collaborative, e-business solutions will greatly enhance the ability for them
to achieve their business goals. We're looking forward to working with Fluke as they
transition from Sherpa to enable them to meet their product knowledge management and
business integration goals."
SDRC announced its acquisition of Sherpa Systems Corporation in January (reference SDRC's
press release dated January 6, 2000). SDRC has structured a technology growth path to
transition Sherpa accounts to Metaphase, while also enabling these companies to leverage
their existing software deployments.
