SDRC's MetaphaseŽ Express Redefines PDM

- Leads Metaphase Sales of $47M as Best-Ever Quarter -

CINCINNATI-January 29, 2001-SDRC (Nasdaq: SDRC) today announced that its MetaphaseŽ Express product knowledge management (PKM) series was instrumental in leading the company to achieve its best-ever Metaphase sales quarter. For the fourth quarter ending December 31, 2000, Metaphase sales totaled a record $47 million. There are now approximately 405,000 Metaphase users in production worldwide, an increase of 30,000 users in Q4 alone, and more than 15 times the estimated number of production users of other PKM solutions.

"SDRC's approach with its Metaphase Express offering focuses on accelerating 'time-to-money'," said Charles Foundyller, president, Daratech, Inc. (Cambridge, MA). "The value is in rapid deployment of a flexible out-of-the-box solution with best practices built in. The packaged combination of software and services in Metaphase Express enables companies to get into production, while others are still studying the problem."

A robust, scalable solution combining software, services and best practices to deliver product knowledge management capabilities within 90 days, Metaphase Express is redefining the PDM market by increasing time-to-value for leading global companies.

"I'm pleased with the rapid acceptance of Metaphase Express and our record-setting Metaphase quarter," said Bill Weyand, chairman and CEO, SDRC. "In today's global economy, time-to-knowledge and time-to-market are inextricably linked. Metaphase Express was developed to accelerate a company's time-to-knowledge, and therefore, help get products to market faster. It's not just a software product - it's a process. This unique offering makes it easier for users to take advantage of PKM and rapidly deploy its capabilities into production."
