SDRC and Joe Gibbs Racing Expand Winning Relationship

Reigning NASCAR Winston Cup Championship team uses SDRC I-DEAS® to fuel their competitiveness; SDRC Automotive Delivers

CINCINNATI-July 10, 2001-SDRC (Nasdaq: SDRC) today announced it has renewed and expanded the company's marketing alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing, a leading NASCAR motor sports organization located in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a five-year contract effective immediately. The Gibbs' engineering team uses I-DEAS® on Hewlett-Packard Company's workstation platform for design, analysis, and manufacturing requirements on the team's high-performance racecars. The reigning NASCAR Winston Cup Championship team, Gibbs sponsors two drivers, Tony Stewart and Bobby Labonte, in the NASCAR series, both of whom are in the top ten of the current race standings.

"I-DEAS has saved us time and money while helping us streamline our engineering processes, enabling us to achieve results that translate directly into better racing machines," said Mark Bringle, CNC manager, Joe Gibbs Racing. "The software is a complete suite of tools that provides us capabilities from design all the way through manufacturing. While we've already achieved a lot with the software, we're just scratching the surface of what the I-DEAS system can provide for us. Every day we find a new way to gain efficiencies in our engineering process, but even more importantly, to gain those milliseconds that can make the difference between winning and losing on the track."

"SDRC is pleased to expand this important marketing relationship with Gibbs," said Max Utter, vice president of marketing, SDRC. "Every industry involved in manufacturing recognizes the critical importance of digitized product design and manufacturing to their business. Joe Gibbs Racing is no exception. They understand that to 'Get There Faster®' means much more than driving across the finish line - it starts long before race day. I-DEAS is a key component of their racing strategy, and they're looking at ways to incorporate other SDRC products into their process, as well. It's a win-win relationship for both companies."
